Today, environmental protection and sustainability are key priorities not only in industry but also within corporate approaches to manufacturing and energy. JUTA a.s. is actively committed to reducing its ecological footprint through a range of innovations and eco-friendly projects. From long-standing use of small hydropower plants to the construction of modern photovoltaic stations, utilization of waste heat, regranulation of plastic waste, and the development of innovative environmentally friendly products—each step is aimed at enhancing sustainability and demonstrating responsibility toward the environment. This overview highlights the main initiatives and technological solutions implemented by the company to minimize its environmental impact and contribute to the preservation of natural resources.

Photovoltaic power plants

In 2024, JUTA completed the installation of photovoltaic power plants at all nine facilities where it was feasible. As of January 14, 2025, the company had saved a total of 2,524 tons of CO2 emissions—equivalent to the carbon sequestration of approximately 75,339 trees. This reduction corresponds to an area of forest roughly 30 hectares in size (about 43 football fields), highlighting a significant contribution to environmental protection.

Small hydropower plants

JUTA a.s. has been harnessing the power and efficiency of small hydropower plants at its facilities in Úpice and Adamov since the company's founding. Due to the limited availability of new suitable sites, JUTA does not plan to expand or construct additional hydroelectric sources. Nevertheless, electricity generated from small hydropower plants remains an environmentally friendly alternative to the predominantly produced electrical energy.

Waste heat

Waste heat generated by industrial machinery is an unwanted byproduct that arises during manufacturing processes. This heat results from various mechanical and chemical activities occurring within machines and equipment, and it positively contributes to the operation of production halls. At JUTA a.s., we utilize this waste heat for heating our manufacturing and administrative spaces, as well as for reheating process water through heat recovery systems. Leveraging waste heat enhances sustainability and operational efficiency, while also reducing the overall energy consumption of our production activities.

Heat pumps

Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Heat pumps play a crucial role in heating and water heating systems by enhancing energy efficiency and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions. They help reduce dependence on fossil fuels and contribute to lowering CO2 emissions. Additionally, these systems are designed to minimize noise and improve user comfort, while also reducing their impact on the surrounding environment.

Regranulation

As part of its waste management efforts, JUTA a.s. maximizes the regranulation of production waste, defective products, and non-conforming items. Environmental Protection: Regranulating plastic waste helps reduce the amount of plastics landfilled or found in nature, thereby protecting ecosystems and lowering pollution. Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions: The regranulation process consumes less energy than producing new plastics from primary raw materials, resulting in lower CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions. Sustainability: Recycling plastic waste supports a circular economy by reusing materials, which diminishes the need for extracting new resources and minimizes manufacturing impacts. Overall, plastic waste regranulation has a positive effect on both the economy and the environment, making it a key component of sustainable development and natural resource conservation.

Innovation is an integral part of our manufacturing process. It reflects customer needs as well as the ongoing innovative activities of our production facilities and R&D departments. Our improved products build on our original offerings, utilizing materials within our manufacturing technology that are less burdensome to the environment—whether in terms of energy consumption, raw material input, or waste generation and recycling. We also focus on enhancing product properties to further reduce environmental impact. Recycling

JUTA a.s. Commitment to Recycling and Sustainability

JUTA a.s. recognizes its environmental responsibility and actively contributes to reducing the impact of packaging materials on the planet. We proudly collaborate with EKO-KOM and other partners to ensure the efficient collection, sorting, recycling, and reuse of packaging waste.

At JUTA a.s., we continuously work to minimize the environmental footprint of our packaging. Our goals include:

Reducing packaging quantities: We seek innovative solutions to limit packaging materials without compromising the quality and safety of our products.
Using sustainable materials: We prioritize recycled, recyclable, and biodegradable packaging options.
Supporting sorting and recycling: We actively participate in the EKO-KOM system and promote awareness and education about waste sorting.
Increasing energy efficiency: We strive to reduce the energy consumption of our processes, including packaging manufacturing and processing.

We are proud of our contribution to energy savings and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2024, JUTA a.s. contributed to a total reduction of 215.36 tons of biogenic CO2 equivalents and 296.76 tons of fossil CO2 equivalents, while saving 13,621.19 GJ of energy.
